The Jet XL built, in its place

What you build

A jet 3.1 metres long with a 2.1 metre wingspan, to build yourself. Poplar ring formers on a birch plywood keel, planked with thin birch strips, with an open cockpit, a seat and two tail fins, on a base with runners.

Every part arrives cut and numbered, packed in boxes by building phase. This is a kit for adult builders: plan six to ten days, with glue clamps and patience.

    Every box is a building phase. Lay the parts out per group; their code is engraved on them.

  2. The frame of the Jet XL being built

    Keel and formers, walls and bulkheads, or spokes and hub: dry-fit and square first, then glue.

  3. The large surfaces of the Jet XL going on

    Close it up

    The large surfaces go on: skin, walls, deck or platform, clamped until the glue has set.

  4. The Jet XL being finished and lacquered

    Finish

    Round the edges, sand and lacquer. Then go through the safety paragraph.

Safety

  • Maximum load: 35 kg. Check glue joints and bolts before every use.
  • Lacquer or paint the whole; let the finish cure completely.
