What you build

A round merry-go-round 2 metres across: twelve spokes in two hub discs, a double rim, deck sectors and six hand posts, turning around a steel axle on a cross base with wheels. You push it round by hand.

Every part in 12 mm birch plywood, cut and numbered, in two boxes. You buy the axle, bearings, wheels and bolts yourself; the list is below. A kit for adult builders.

    Finish

    Round the edges, sand and lacquer. Then go through the safety paragraph.

  • Round and sand all edges and corners smooth before the model is used.

  • Maximum load: 100 kg, spread over the deck. Check glue joints and bolts before every use.
  • Lacquer or paint the whole; let the finish cure completely.
